ESG Analysts Highlight Actifio's Role in Helping IT Do More With Less as Spending Priorities Shift

In a newly released video, “Doing More With Less in IT,” senior analysts from Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) highlight the role of Actifio, the pioneer of multi-cloud copy data management software, in enabling four of the highest-priority areas of IT investment: remote work, security, cloud, and data protection.

ESG’s recent research shows that one third of IT organizations will end up with reduced budgets for 2020, while about a quarter of organizations will increase spending on IT. ESG research finds that the largest spending increases will occur in those four critical areas.

Is there an example of a company that can help customers with all of these initiatives?

Christophe Bertrand, ESG Senior Analyst, believes there is. “The company is Actifio,” said Bertrand. “They have a great platform, a great solution.” In the video, Bertand describes a large Actifio customer with thousands of VMs and numerous Oracle databases that moved them from an on-premises remote DR solution to a cloud-based backup and DR option using object storage. He explains, “They were not only able to significantly reduce costs, but they’ve also improved both RPO and RTO. With the data being in application-native format, it can then be re-used for devops and analytics in the cloud. That’s what I call intelligent data management.”

Mark Peters, ESG Practice Director, said, “Business still has to go on, revenue targets have to be met, applications have to be supported, new applications have to be introduced. But clearly the current world situation has made some dramatic changes and impact upon IT. ESG’s recent research shows that 76% of knowledge workers now work from home. Of course that adds pressure to the cybersecurity teams.” Working from home increases the attack surface area and leads to more incidents involving ransomware, malware, phishing, and denial-of-service attacks.
