SheerID Launches “SheerID InStore” Providing Retailers First Digital Solution for Gated Offers and Promotions in Physical Stores

SheerID, the global leader in identity verification for commerce, announced the launch of SheerID InStore. SheerID InStore makes it easy for retailers to verify the eligibility of in-store shoppers for gated offers to coveted communities such as students, teachers, and healthcare workers to serve them directly in their physical storefronts and capture point-of-sale revenue. With the addition of SheerID InStore, retailers have a full omnichannel solution that supports in-store, online and mobile-based shopping. The SheerID InStore verification process also presents retailers with a new means of gathering valuable, first-party customer data, information they can incorporate into their data warehouse and loyalty programs to drive repeat purchases.

Gated, community-based offers are a proven strategy for acquiring customer segments such as teachers, healthcare workers and students. SheerID’s research has found that more than 80% of people within these communities are likely to buy from a brand with a gated offer and more than 90% would share an offer with others they knew were eligible. This organic evangelism lowers acquisition costs and makes gated-offer programs deliver a return on investment of 337%, according to research from Forrester Consulting.
SheerID InStore is a complete solution that serves consumers and store staff. Consumers can access the verification form by scanning a QR code on their phone placed at the discretion of store operations; they then provide a few basic pieces of information to prove eligibility and receive a UPC code that can be easily scanned at point-of-sale. The retailer can then stream the consumer-provided data to the customer’s profile or the retailer’s loyalty program for automatic future rewards and discounts to encourage additional purchases on any channel.
