Providing high-quality labeled data to power Orbisk technology, Sama:
- Accurately labeled hundreds of thousands of food images
- Maintained open feedback loops to solve edge cases and account for new data sources
- Helped streamline the data annotation process so customers receive accurate reports in a timely manner
Accurately labeled data provided by Sama powers Orbisk’s technology, giving foodservice providers readily available insight into which foods they are wasting most often, allowing them to better manage their budgets and waste levels. With this reduction in food waste comes significant cost savings and a measurable impact on the environment.
In its report “What a Waste 2.0: A Global Snapshot of Solid Waste Management,” World Bank predicted that more than three billion tons of food waste will be generated annually by 2050. The efforts and technology innovation from Orbisk and Sama are slowing that trajectory.
