Algolia Appoints Stephen Lynch as Chief Executive Officer

Algolia, the AI Search and Retrieval platform trusted by more than 18,000 businesses and millions of developers worldwide, announced the appointment of Stephen Lynch as Chief Executive Officer. Lynch succeeds Bernadette Nixon, who transitioned from CEO at the end of December and continues to serve on Algolia’s Board of Directors.

Lynch brings two decades of experience building and scaling enterprise platforms, with deep expertise at the intersection of AI search, machine learning, and large-scale system design. He joins Algolia at a defining moment for the industry, as search evolves from a feature into the foundational intelligence layer powering generative AI, agentic workflows, and real-time decision-making systems.

Most recently, Lynch served as General Manager & EVP of Enterprise at AlphaSense, where he helped scale the company through a period of extraordinary growth. He evolved the company from an early-stage platform into a global category leader serving more than 6,000 organizations, including 88% of the S&P 100. Over his nearly eight-year tenure, he played a central role in expanding the company’s product, engineering and commercial capabilities, contributing to its evolution into a category-defining AI platform used by the world’s most sophisticated institutions.
