Algolia, the AI Search and Retrieval platform orchestrating over 1.75 trillion queries each year, trusted by more than 18,000 businesses, and used by millions of developers around the world, today announced the appointment of Peter Minev as Senior Vice President of Engineering. A seasoned technology, product, and business leader, Minev will lead Algolia’s global engineering organization and drive the next phase of innovation and scale for the company’s platform.

Minev brings extensive experience building and leading high-impact product and engineering teams across a wide range of industries and company stages, from fast-growing startups to global enterprises. His expertise spans both B2C products and B2B enterprise software, with a strong track record of aligning technology strategy with business growth.

Over the course of his career, Minev has built and managed organizations across the United States, India, Europe, and the UAE, developing a reputation for scaling distributed teams and delivering complex, high-performing systems.

Most recently, Minev served as Chief Technology and Product Officer at APCOA Group, Europe’s largest parking technology management operator. Prior to that, he was Chief Product and Technology Officer at CLARK, VP of Engineering and Head of Platform Engineering at Careem, and Director of R&D at VMware.

During his time at Careem, Minev established the company’s engineering hub in Berlin, a move that significantly contributed to its rapid growth and eventual $3.1 billion acquisition by Uber. In recognition of this achievement, he was awarded the ESMT Leadership Achievement Award in 2019.

Minev is also the author of ‘Building TECH’, a book focused on engineering leadership and organizational design. He holds a Master of Science in Engineering and an Executive MBA with honors from ESMT Berlin.

In addition to his executive roles, Minev serves as a board member and advisor to several companies, including DGLegacy, Albertine, Titanbay, and Impower.
