DataRobot Acquires Data Collaboration Platform Cursor

Acquisition to further bolster DataRobot’s data management capabilities, making data and AI even more accessible

DataRobot, the leader in automated machine learning, announced that it has acquired Cursor, a San Francisco-based company that provides a data collaboration platform which helps organizations find, understand and use data more efficiently.

After spending years at leading technology companies like LinkedIn, Salesforce and Pandora, industry veterans Adam Weinstein, Patrick Farrell and Jason McGhee founded Cursor in 2017. The team saw the opportunity to build a unified search experience across a company’s data assets — including code, metadata and insights — in order to bridge the gap between business and technical users. Cursor helps organizations better search and comprehend their data by marrying an easy-to-use data catalog with powerful tools that all users can leverage to inform immediate action. With its built-in coding environment and user-friendly data dictionary and collaboration tools, Cursor supports every level within a business.

“We’ve seen the value that gets unleashed when companies truly become data-driven,” said Weinstein, CEO of Cursor. “We are very excited to join forces with DataRobot, not only because of our common missions, but also because of our shared passion for helping people get deeper insights from their data.”

Cursor is used by hundreds of companies, including large enterprises in the technology, financial services and retail industries. As part of the acquisition, DataRobot will build a San Francisco office, expanding its presence in a geography where numerous customers already exist. DataRobot will also integrate Cursor’s technology into its automated machine learning platform.
