“We recognized early during the pandemic that the right data in the hands of everyone could inform better decisions for navigating the uncertainty of this rapidly changing environment”
At the onset of COVID-19, Domo quickly realized that civic and business leaders needed tools to understand the novel virus and to inform their response in ways that would keep people safe and communities and businesses moving forward. Domo built its COVID-19 Tracker to curate, shape and share available data — such as infection, transmission, testing and mortality rates for all 50 states and globally — from internationally trusted sources like the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Johns Hopkins University. Domo continually expanded the insights available by connecting new data sources such as economic impact data, mobility data and vaccination data as it became available.
“We recognized early during the pandemic that the right data in the hands of everyone could inform better decisions for navigating the uncertainty of this rapidly changing environment,” said Josh James, founder and CEO, Domo. “The Domo team is proud to be recognized for our efforts and to be mentioned with so many other innovative companies.”

The tracker is freely available in an easy-to-use public portal that updates every 10 minutes while automatically and simultaneously cross-checking the data against multiple sources to ensure data integrity and accuracy. Since late March, the tracker has been integrated by nearly 800 customers into their own Domo dashboards that they use to manage their business. Additionally, it has been widely used by various local and state government representatives to track information about active cases, deaths and recoveries in individual communities.
In the first week of the COVID-19 Tracker’s launch, Domo saw nearly 85,000 visits, more than 57,000 unique visitors, and 100,000 page views to the tracker’s website. During the first three months, the tracker received nearly 1.3 million visits, 575,000 unique visitors and two million page views.
“Domo has set the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet,” said Claire Graves, Executive Director of The Webby Awards. “This award is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its creators.”
