“Dr. Briggs’ decorated background will help LocatorX spearhead the future of supply chain anti-counterfeiting, authentication and tracking technology.”

Briggs brings decades of expertise to the role. His early research led to the development of acoustic microscopy for materials characterization, a non-destructive process using soundwaves to examine objects for defects. His current work focuses on materials and techniques for quantum technologies and their incorporation into practical devices. In addition to his groundbreaking research, Briggs has contributed his expertise to leading global companies including Hitachi and Hewlett-Packard.

Briggs is Emeritus Professor of Nanomaterials at the University of Oxford, where he was elected in 2002 to the newly created Chair of Nanomaterials. Briggs directed the Quantum Information Processing Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration from 2002-2009. As part of his work in the University of Oxford, Briggs led a team developing a solid-state miniature atomic clock, which uses nanotechnology and quantum transitions for inexpensively tracking any physical asset of any size. LocatorX has exclusive global rights to commercialize the clock through 2032.

Briggs’ work is recognized in both the academic and business circles. He has amassed over 650 publications and more than 27,500 citations throughout his career, and he was elected an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Microscopial Society for his innovations.

“Briggs’ experience and leadership is the perfect fit to solve today’s supply chain challenges – as sustainability-minded consumers expect deeper visibility into manufacturing and transportation processes as well as assurance into product authenticity,” said Scott Fletcher, LocatorX CEO. “Dr. Briggs’ decorated background will help LocatorX spearhead the future of supply chain anti-counterfeiting, authentication and tracking technology.”
