“The key security challenge that CISOs face daily is that their team needs to be right 100 percent of the time to be successful, whereas cybercriminals only have to be right once to execute a devastating attack”

“Worldwide IT spending is projected to total $3.9 trillion in 2020, an increase of 3.4% from 2019, according to the latest forecast by Gartner, Inc.”2 TrapX’s deception platform, DeceptionGrid 7.0, shifts the economic burden of cybersecurity to the attackers by using decoys, or “traps”, to trick attackers into believing they are executing a successful attack. These decoys intercept sophisticated attackers and divert them to a fictitious environment that mimics the organization’s actual systems. This consumes the attacker’s time and resources and forces them to reveal their techniques, tactics and procedures, ultimately giving security teams complete control.

Pete Shoard, senior director analyst, Gartner, said in the report: “Security and risk management leaders who want to develop a threat detection initiative can invest in deception platforms as a low-cost and high-impact complement (or more rarely as a replacement) for SIEM, EDR and NDR tools offering high-fidelity sensors. Forward-leaning and mature clients can also benefit from the added value from deception platforms. These benefits include generation of decoys that will increase an attacker’s dwell time, or generation of local indicators of compromise (IOCs) and other threat intelligence (TI) which can give feedback into their TI efforts.”

TrapX DeceptionGrid combines the benefits of deep and large-scale deception, using emulated traps deployed via automation. These high-interaction decoys support deep deception at enterprise-scale, and automatically change their shape and location once triggered to keep attackers guessing. The platform also integrates with key elements of security and network infrastructure already in place, allowing security teams to contain attacks and enabling a smoother recovery.

“The key security challenge that CISOs face daily is that their team needs to be right 100 percent of the time to be successful, whereas cybercriminals only have to be right once to execute a devastating attack,” says Ori Bach, CEO of TrapX Security. “With DeceptionGrid, our goal is to help alleviate some of this burden for security teams – instead of just monitoring endpoints, deception integrates with your entire IT infrastructure to continually detect, deceive and defeat attackers at the same time. We’re honored to be named as a Sample Vendor of Deception Platforms in Gartner’s Hype Cycle for Security Operations, 2020 and are glad to see deception starting to gain recognition among security professionals as a way to defeat advanced cyber threats.”
