A year after introducing Simbe Robotics’ autonomous inventory robot Tally to their Dubai’s Mall of Emirates store, Majid Al futtaim, owner and operator of Carrefour in the UAE, announced it is launching the technology in an additional 11 stores to ensure items are on shelves, inform better restocking and replenishment systems, and support its growing online grocery business.

“With Tally, they’ve significantly reduced out-of-stocks and helped ensure shoppers are finding what they’re looking for, even amid pandemic shortages, which leads to happy customers and improves the bottom line.”

Carrefour first launched Simbe’s Tally robot in September 2019, utilizing its real-time product availability, placement, and pricing data to ensure shelves are stocked and planograms correctly executed. The robot traverses the store three times per day and reports this data back to the store teams. Building upon this successful partnership, Carrefour is expanding Tally to an additional 11 stores to ensure more locations have access to this inventory data, particularly as the retailer grows its online grocery offering and works to fortify its supply chain.

This news comes during a year of growth for Simbe Robotics, having recently announced the roll-out of their next-generation hardware, Tally 3.0. Tally is deployed in more than a dozen of the top 250 global retailers in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

A globally recognized top three consulting firm conducted an independent and extensive study within a leading regional grocery partner, which proved that Tally:

  • Detects up to 10x more out-of-stock items than manual audits conducted by store teams
  • Averages a 20% reduction in out-of-stock items at the store level
  • Pays for itself as quickly as the first month of deployment at a store
  • Yield more than 2% in annual sales lift due to better data and improved store execution
