“We know consumers want to support local businesses, and most start their purchasing journey on Google. This is a great way for businesses to promote their inventory and surface local options for the consumer to complete their purchase the same day.”

Wireless retail has become a competitive space, especially with the rise of big-box brands, same-day or next-day shipping, and the expansion of online retail. This can make it hard for other wireless retailers to compete, despite stocking exactly what nearby shoppers are looking for.

In response, iQmetrix, provider of the telecom industry’s leading retail management software, has integrated with Pointy from Google. This free service puts results from local retailers above the big-box options when a customer is searching Google for products nearby.

iQmetrix clients can opt to have Pointy from Google integrated, free of charge, with their point-of-sale system. When the retailers scan their inventory, the products are uploaded to an online catalog for their store and, in turn, are shown on their Business Profile on Google.

By enabling Pointy, telecom retailers can connect with shoppers in the area who are browsing online for products, without needing their own e-commerce website.

Pointy offers many benefits, including:

  • Attracting traffic to stores by showing in-stock products right where customers are searching online
  • Prioritizing search results from nearby wireless retailers, even above well-known brands and big-box stores
  • Reaching customers who would otherwise never have known about that store
  • Creating a unified experience for the customer, who can find and buy the product they want, where and when they want
  • Providing retailers with data on the products that customers are searching for

Ken Konkel, Vice President of Technology at iQmetrix, said, “We know consumers want to support local businesses, and most start their purchasing journey on Google. This is a great way for businesses to promote their inventory and surface local options for the consumer to complete their purchase the same day.”

Pointy is free to iQmetrix customers—clients can simply contact the iQmetrix team to implement it on their behalf.
