The Modern Data Company Adds Two to Its Leadership Team Amid Accelerating Growth and Expansion

New leaders will focus on growth across healthcare and advancing customer solutions

The Modern Data Company – redefining data management with DataOS, the world’s first data operating system – today announced two new key hires for its leadership team. Rich Waller joins as general manager of healthcare, and Vishal Venkatram has been appointed field chief technology officer of customer solutions.

The new leaders each bring distinguished track records – with Waller in healthcare tech and Venkatram as an enterprise strategy leader. They are joining at a time when Modern is looking to expand into other spaces with its goal to radically simplify how organizations manage, access and interact with data.

At Modern, Waller will focus on go-to-market and platform strategy in the healthcare industry and related verticals. Venkatram, with a background in sales and technical innovation, will lead Modern’s strategic sales engagements and provide thought leadership for product teams to help accelerate customer data journeys.

“Data, decision insights, AI, and machine learning will fuel innovation over the next decade”

Most recently, Waller was the co-founder and chief experience officer at VisiQuate – a healthcare analytics and actionable workflow company. He also is an investor and advisor to digital health and technology startups, having held several roles across industry verticals focused on business process automation, enterprise analytics and mobile strategy.

Venkatram has a strong background in technology leadership, having most recently served with GE Power and GE Energy. While at GE, he helped transform global delivery and sales operations. In addition, the Atlanta Tech Professionals named Venkatram one of the top innovative CIOs.

“At a time of accelerating growth and strategic reach into major industries, the experiences of Vishal and Rich will inform our efforts to both close critical business development gaps and create new pathways to value for our customers,” said Modern Co-founder and CEO Srujan Akula.

“I see tremendous opportunity within health care providers, health plans and life sciences organizations for a next-generation platform approach focused on secure, agile data management,” Waller said. “The time is right in the healthcare industry for a new paradigm in data infrastructure. DataOS is the data operating system that provides complete data life cycle capabilities with a unified data infrastructure enabling customers to build business-critical data products powered by high-quality, reliable data.”

“Data, decision insights, AI, and machine learning will fuel innovation over the next decade,” Venkatram said. “While we have point solutions that enable and activate data, its sheer proliferation has caused startups and enterprises alike to miss out on opportunities to monetize and create sustainable DataOps. Modern is making a big promise — unifying data organization-wide and simplifying its operationalization. But having seen DataOS in action, I know we will deliver where others have fallen short.”
