CoLab, the world’s first Design Engagement System for mechanical engineering teams, has brought veteran SaaS leader Jason McDermott on board as the company’s Chief Sales Officer.
McDermott is joining a strong senior leadership team and will play an indispensable role in driving CoLab’s revenue growth. Since raising a $17M (USD) Series A round in October 2021, CoLab has grown substantially in order to bring the benefits of modern collaborative tools to even more engineering teams around the world. Team size has more than doubled over the past year, and CoLab was recently named an inaugural partner for Xometry’s new Workcenter platform.
With more than 25 years of tech business leadership experience, McDermott is the ideal person to spearhead CoLab’s sales strategy and team. Most recently, he was CEO at early-stage startup Chisel.ai where he led a team that was focused on disrupting the insurance industry and previously held the roles of President and CRO. Over his career, he’s worked in Canada and USA across both private and public companies, ranging from pre-revenue to $4B in revenue. An accomplished and strategic leader with an impressive track record of scaling revenue, he’s uniquely qualified to take on CoLab’s Chief Sales Officer role as the company continues to scale.

“I’ve always been drawn to disruptive companies with the power to change the way an industry works,” says McDermott. “CoLab is an obvious win for engineering teams that are looking to modernize and become more effective. I couldn’t be more excited to help get CoLab into the hands of more engineers around the world.”
“I’m incredibly excited to welcome Jason McDermott to CoLab,” says Adam Keating, CoLab’s co-founder and CEO. “What made hiring this position so tough was the combination of finding an experienced leader who’d push our team to grow and scale, while maintaining the culture we’ve worked so hard to build since we started. Jason perfectly checks both boxes. As a proven SaaS revenue leader with two exits under his belt, he knows how to scale revenue organizations from the early days all the way through to mid 8-figures. Jason’s experience and leadership will help us empower even more engineering teams with the collaborative tools they need to focus on delivering quality products, on time.”
