Bain & Company appoints Hernan Saenz to lead its Global Strategy & Transformation practice

Bain & Company announced the appointment of Hernan Saenz as head of its Global Strategy & Transformation Practice.

The move further reinforces Bain’s commitment to setting the global standard for strategic thinking and business transformations supporting its clients’ full potential journeys.

Saenz, a senior partner and former member of Bain’s board of directors, brings to his new position more than 25 years’ experience at Bain. He previously served as the global head of Bain’s Performance Improvement practice, which more than tripled in scale under his leadership while helping clients around the world drive exceptional value through business model transformations. Prior to this, he served as the managing partner of Bain’s Dallas, Houston, and Mexico offices and oversaw a doubling in the size of Bain’s Southwest region during his tenure.

In his time heading Bain’s Performance Improvement work, Saenz specialized in accelerated performance transformation and operations reinventions. He serves as an advisor to the World Economic Forum, leading a global WEF initiative on building digital, traceable, and circular value chains. Saenz also serves on the faculty of Cornell University’s Johnson School of Business, where his courses focus on the evolution of strategy and operations in an era driven by turbulence, post-globalization, and technological change. He holds an MBA and an MILR from Cornell University, as well as a MS in economics from Stanford University and graduated from Harvard with a BA in economics magna cum laude.

Saenz succeeds Dunigan O’Keeffe as leader of the firm’s Strategy & Transformation practice. As global practice leader, O’Keeffe delivered a sustained period of innovation in Bain’s work with clients on strategy. During his tenure, he also brought together the firm’s Strategy and Transformation teams as one practice and drove a continued focus on strategy through the major disruptions of recent years. He works extensively with the CEOs of leading global companies and regularly advises corporate leaders on the impact of cultivating a Founder’s Mentality on sustained growth, breakthrough strategies, and successful transformations.
