Mark Porter Joins Database Platform MongoDB’s Board of Directors

One of the leading general-purpose database platforms, MongoDB, Inc., recently announced the addition of cloud database veteran and former AWS & Oracle executive Mark Porter to its Board of Directors.

Mark porter began his career at the age of 16 when he started coding professionally. He holds a BS in Computer Science from Caltech and is currently a board member of a global mobility company, Splyt. A pioneer in the database industry for several years, Porter currently serves as the CTO of Grab, an on-demand transportation, digital payments, food, package delivery, and financial services company. In his previous role, he was in charge of the database efforts of AWS (Amazon Web Services) which included AWS Relational Database Service (RDS), Amazon Aurora and RDS for PostgreSQL, the AWS Database Migration Service, and the AWS Schema Conversion Tool. Porter has also held other important roles such as the Chief Technical Officer of NewsCorp, VP – Engineering at Oracle, in addition to working at NASA/JPL.

Porter has had the fortune of gaining the experience of being both a supplier and a customer of innovative data technologies.
