Committed to Protecting Their Clients, Fanplayr Becomes Certified to Safeguard Sensitive Data Based on the AICPA’s Trust Services Criteria
Fanplayr, a leader in helping e-commerce merchants optimize and improve their conversion rates, announced that it has completed its Service Organization Compliance (SOC 2) audit for its e-commerce Optimization System. Established by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), SOC 2 outlines standards for management of customer data using five “trust service principles”—security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality and privacy. This certification is the latest step in Fanplayr’s ongoing commitment to providing the highest standard of information security for its clients.

Data breaches worldwide have been on the rise. By June 30 of last year, 3,813 breaches resulted in the exposure of over 4.1 billion records. This is a 54% increase in breaches and 52% increase in exposed records compared with the same period the previous year. (In fact, 3 of these events are now on the list of top 10 largest breaches of all time.)
With data breaches continually on the rise for other providers, Fanplayr is banking on a strong offense being the best defense. “We want to continue to process customer data with the highest degree of integrity,” says Simon Yencken, Founder and CEO of Fanplayr. “To proactively protect our clients’ customers, we have developed a comprehensive security program that includes administrative, physical and technical safeguards, and controls sufficient to ensure the security, confidentiality and integrity of data, including confidential information.”

Much of the data being collected through e-commerce contains some of the most sensitive information that companies process. Rajiv Sunkara, CTO and Co-Founder of Fanplayr, believes that as e-commerce continues to grow, the need for security increases exponentially. “Data breaches are a real threat to both consumers and companies. Once trust is broken through the exposure of such confidential information, it’s difficult to gain back,” Sunkara says. “This SOC 2 audit shows that Fanplayr has established a process and specific practices that ensure proper oversight of our e-commerce Optimization System.”
Performed by outside auditors, the SOC 2 compliance requires periodic audits to maintain the integrity of processes and controls. Fanplayr has completed its SOC 2 audit for the following Trust Services Criteria:
- Security
- Availability
- Confidentiality
Yencken states, “The security of your personal information cannot be stressed enough. This certification is more than ticking boxes on the compliance checklist, it’s about creating and maintaining procedures to proactively safeguard information. We are proud to have accomplished the SOC 2 audit and will continue to be vigilant about protecting the interests of both our clients and their customers.”
