Postman, the leading platform for API development, announced it is joining the OpenAPI Initiative, the consortium of forward-looking industry experts focused on creating, evolving and promoting the OpenAPI Specification (OAS), a vendor-neutral, and open description format for RESTful API.

Postman believes that acts as the central contract for critical areas of API operations, including testing, scripting, automation, workflows, governance and discovery, as well as generating client and server SDKs. OpenAPI is an important standard for the wider API community and is adopted by most of the API service providers who help drive the sector.
“OpenAPI is the core of the Postman API platform and essential to our services,” said Kin Lane, Chief Evangelist, Postman. “Its specification provides a machine-readable contract that Postman users can import and sync that is central to generating Postman collections that can be used for a variety of needs API developers have.”
