CouponXoo Shopping Trend Report: Consumers Intend to Spend More This Black Friday 2021

Despite concerns about the ongoing global pandemic, consumer spending on Black Friday is expected to be higher than ever. Consumers tend to search for Black Friday shopping increased 45% compared to 2020 on Couponxoo.

According to Couponxoo‘s annual survey, consumer spending on Black Friday-related items is expected to hit a five-year high. Despite concerns about the ongoing global pandemic, consumer spending on Black Friday is expected to be higher than ever. Consumers tend to search for Black Friday shopping increased 45% compared to 2020 on Couponxoo.

Conducted by the search behavior analysis system and user shopping actions on Couponxoo, the results show that consumers searching for Black Friday shopping increased by 45% compared to 2020. Top searches which consumers choose to shop for this Black Friday 2021 include dressing up (72%), decorating their home or yard (60%), and hosting or attending a party (22%).

Of that, an estimated 65% of Americans plan to shop on Black Friday online or in-store this year, up from 48% in 2020 and compared with 62% in 2019 before the pandemic. American households are much more likely to shop online at Black Friday Sales (62%) than those without (42%).

This year, consumers plan for shopping at Black Friday earlier than ever, with 49% searching in October or earlier and another 35% in the first week of October.

The most searched for fashion deals on Couponxoo up to 62% to mark the shopping season in 2021 as many such celebrations have been restricted amid the pandemic last year. However, health authorities have advised caution as the pandemic is still not completely under control worldwide and the heavy human and economic consequences it has had since the start of the crisis early last year.

“This year, in particular, we have seen an increase in spending on Haloween from families as a result of the lingering effects of the pandemic,” said Jack Nolan, Couponxoo’s Chief Strategy Officer. “Consumers keep spending more on Black Friday and they’ve also started shopping aggressively since early November to get early deals from brands.”
