Seattle-based startup @SaykaraAI drafts #healthtech veteran Joy Efron as Vice President Marketing. The company liberates #doctors from keyboards, screens and burdensome documentation with its #AI assistant, Kara.

Efron is a seasoned strategist and business leader with an extensive background in healthcare. She has spent the past 20 years driving the commercialization of multiple clinical technology solutions, including care management, evidence-based guidelines, predictive analytics and electronic health records.

“After emerging from stealth mode last year, we’ve seen tremendous market receptivity to our solution,” says Saykara’s President and Chief Medical Officer, Graham Hughes, MD. “By adding Joy’s depth of knowledge and expertise in healthcare information technology, her talents as a marketer, and her experience in startup environments, I have every confidence we will advance our vision of liberating physicians everywhere from the documentation burden that is driving burnout and depleting margins.”

The Seattle-based startup is gaining rapid traction among ambulatory practices, hospitals and health systems nationwide. Their voice-enabled mobile app, Kara, is the first fully ambient and autonomous AI-powered assistant. Physicians simply converse naturally with their patients while Kara “listens” from the sidelines. The system then interprets and transforms the salient content required for notes, orders, referrals and more, and enters both structured and unstructured data directly to the electronic health record (EHR).

“Physicians are currently spending more time interacting with their EHR than with their patients,” says Hughes. “Saykara has a great opportunity to reverse this course. With Joy on board and our commercial team in place, we are sure to make that happen.”
