Concentric Extends Data Protection Coverage Across Widening Range of Industries and Functions with Launch of MIND Deep Learning-as-a-Service Data Security Solution

Concentric Inc., a leading vendor of intelligent AI-based solutions for protecting business-critical data, today announced the availability of Concentric MIND, the industry’s first deep learning-as-a-service infrastructure that aggregates models from across customer installations for faster, more accurate data categorization and adaptation to industry-specific data types. Concentric MIND is a component of the company’s flagship Semantic Intelligence™ solution to discover, categorize and assess risk in unstructured data for the industry’s most advanced data protection.

With today’s announcement, Concentric is now continually expanding its library of more than 90 standard data categories with new categories identified by other Semantic Intelligence users. MIND catalogs models associated with these categories and alerts users whenever one fits their data. An accounting firm, for example, can now utilize categories for data that is less common outside of the accountancy industry (e.g. financial filings or specialized forms) that have already been identified by other firms. As the backbone of Concentric’s deep learning solution, MIND automatically manages and deploys data models to extend coverage, improve accuracy and reduce risk – all without requiring any content expertise from the IT staff.

“Concentric extends our security controls to cover our employees’ files and documents by categorizing our data and identifying risk,” said Henry Svendblad, chief technology officer of Company Nurse LLC, the premier nurse triage service for workplace injuries. “We’re obsessed about protecting our customers’ private information, and MIND will help us understand and secure data without needing to be content experts.”

Once data’s been categorized, Semantic Intelligence uses deep learning to capture the collective wisdom of content owners for effective security without hard-to-maintain rules or end user classification programs. Natural language processing (a deep learning technique) provides a semantic understanding of data so it can be inventoried, categorized and assessed for business criticality. The solution identifies the baseline security practices used in each category to calculate a “risk distance” from the baseline to each individual element. Risk distance reveals inappropriate sharing (inside and outside the organization), risky storage locations or incorrect classification – all without regex, rules or upfront policy configuration.

“With MIND, Concentric now offers the best data categorization capabilities on the market,” said Karthik Krishnan, CEO of Concentric. “And when combined with our innovative risk-distance approach to security assessment, we have the most advanced and effective unstructured data protection solution on the market.”

Concentric also announced today that it has received SOC 2 Type 2 certification, which provides independent validation that Concentric complies with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (AICPA) applicable Trust Services Principles and Guidelines. The certification demonstrates Concentric’s continuous commitment to the most rigorous security standards for its own operations and handling of customer data. Conducted by Armanino, an independent auditing firm, the audit certifies that Concentric’s information security practices, policies, procedures, and operations meet the SOC 2 standards for security and confidentiality.
