“Alation exploits machine learning at every opportunity to improve data management, governance, and consumption by analytics citizens.”

Alation received the highest score in the machine learning criterion, securing the only five-out-of-five score of the 10 providers included in the report. The company obtained the highest score in the machine learning criterion, in part, we believe, for its Behavioral Analysis Engine, which uses machine learning to derive insights about data usage patterns and drive automation and intelligence across the platform. According to the report, “Alation exploits machine learning at every opportunity to improve data management, governance, and consumption by analytics citizens.”

“We are thrilled to be recognized as a leader in the Forrester Wave,” said Satyen Sangani, CEO and co-founder, Alation. “As we’ve been saying for the last six months, Alation started with search & discovery, expanded into data literacy and data governance, and is leading the market evolution of data catalogs into platforms for data intelligence. We believe this report recognizes the clear differentiation of Alation’s technologies as well as the actual outcomes achieved by our customers worldwide.”

According to Forrester, “For organizations hitting the accelerator on being an insights-driven business, Alation has demonstrated to its customers that it’s the solid choice to intelligently harmonize data management, governance, and analytics.”

All vendors were evaluated across three categories: current offering, strategy, and market presence. Of all the top vendors evaluated, Alation received the highest score in the machine learning criterion, tied for the highest score in the product vision criterion, and also received the highest possible scores in the collaboration, delivery model, market approach, performance, planned enhancements, revenue and customers, and security criteria.

This Forrester Wave report recognition comes on the heels of Alation being named to the Constellation ShortList for Metadata Management, Data Cataloging & Data Governance in Q3 2020; positioned as a leader in the Inaugural IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Data Catalog Software 2020 Vendor Assessment; and named the top-ranked data cataloging solution in Dresner Wisdom of Crowds® Data Catalog Market Study.
