Thoughtexchange Adds Powerhouse Talent to Drive Anti-Racism & DE&I Focus

Dr. Dennis Carpenter has been appointed as Director of K12 Anti Racism and Equity and Karen Craggs-Milne has been appointed Head of Anti-Racism & Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.

’While systemic racism has occurred for hundreds of years, talking about it in the workplace and in schools has not. The conversation around DE&I is changing and now needs to include anti-racism,” said Dave MacLeod, Thoughtexchange CEO. “2020 has seen a renewed focus in conversations related to anti-racism, diversity, equity and inclusion; we have seen an increase of 108% in this area alone. Having the powerhouse in-house expertise that Dennis and Karen bring will make sure our product delivers on its promise, that we have top tier support for our customers and that our own company truly walks the talk as well.”

Former US district Superintendent and prominent consultant in the fields of executive leadership and education, Dennis has worked in the field of education for 25 years. Throughout his career he has focused on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism.

“I’ve done this work in multiple states and communities but what I see is the potential to do it at scale – to have international impact at a time when the conversation on diversity, equity and inclusion is louder than I’ve seen before in my lifetime.” said Dennis.

In a recent AASA study, although nearly 90% of school superintendents said conversations about race and equity are either extremely or very important, only 21% said they were “very well prepared” for that responsibility.

During her distinguished 20 year career in the field of diversity, equity, gender equality and inclusion, Karen Craggs-Milne has run her own consulting practice and advised numerous Governments, Corporations and NGOs across the globe. Prior notable clients have included CIBC Bank, Unilock, The Mastercard Foundation, Plan International, and Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada.

“Before joining the company, I used Thoughtexchange with my own clients and saw the impact it has first hand. It changed how quickly I could help move companies forward towards meaningful change and enabled us to generate true buy-in throughout the process. This tool literally revolutionizes how anti-racism and DE&I work can be done and I am incredibly excited to be at the forefront of that.”

Dennis and Karen will create and lead a series of virtual events aimed at helping leaders effectively create irreversible sustainable change in relation to anti-racism, diversity, equity and inclusion.
