This National Pretzel Day, a new app is sure to help frequent online shoppers stay less salty.
Pretzel, a new shopping assistant, announced its official launch in the Apple App Store. By automatically building collections of online purchases or wishlist items—and with swipe-able, shareable features like many photo-sharing and dating apps—Pretzel keeps track of online purchases so users don’t have to. The company also released a convenient Returns Reminder feature that makes it impossible to ever forget to return unloved purchases to retailers.

Pretzel: Untangling Purchases + Putting the Personal Back in Finances
When users connect their shopping accounts from major retailers like Amazon, Target, and Home Depot to Pretzel, the app intelligently determines which items are closest to their return window, and sends a weekly reminder to their phones. Users can mark items that have already been returned, items they intend to keep, or even highly specific items to receive a special alert 48 hours before the return window closes. Pretzel users also have the ability to change these times directly within the app.
Retailers are embracing returns more than ever as a valuable tool for building customer loyalty. However, it’s all too easy for consumers to forget to actually return an item. Since Pretzel already automatically indexes every connected purchase and knows the return windows for each retailer, it’s now possible to get a helpful reminder after you’ve had time to see if your purchase is the right fit for your life.
Following a soft launch in February 2022, Pretzel continues to add helpful features to the shopping assistant app, all of which are designed to make the post-purchase experience easier for consumers. The beautifully-designed app helps users replace the random receipts and sometimes deleted emails with a single, quick view of past purchases. Users can also group items into collections to share with friends or keep projects organized, or easily text a link to that item a family member just loved so they can purchase it themselves.
“There are a million apps for buying things, but very few for actually owning things,” said Alan Doan, founder and CEO of Pretzel. “We built Pretzel to do the things that no ecommerce app can do, because they’re mostly interested in getting you to purchase again. Pretzel is built to save you time, money, and help you get the most use and enjoyment out of the things you actually buy.”

While Pretzel is Doan’s newest entrepreneurial venture, it is far from his first. In addition to Pretzel, Alan also co-founded the successful Missouri Star Quilt Company (part of Creativity, Inc). Doan and his sister were named Small Business Persons of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration in 2015. Pretzel is backed by funds from Shrug Capital and Sidekick Partners in addition to notable angel investors Austin Allred and Bobby Brannigan.
